DIY: Gift Card Holders

Wrapping up Christmas gifts is one of my most favorite things to do during the holidays. I’m sure many of you can join in on that with me. The gift that always gets left in the dust it seems is the gift card. I do gift these to people quite often, so I try to present them as prettily as I can. This year, I will be giving out some, so I made some cute little envelopes and am showing you below how to make your own.

1   Cut your holiday paper into 5×4.25″ sized sheets.

2   Score the sheet in three areas: 1 3/8″ from each side and 3/4″ from the bottom. You’ll see a chart above that shows the lines you’ll need to create (yellow dashed lines).

3   Make your flaps by cutting in the designated areas shown above in the same chart (blue dashed lines).

4   Dab some glue on the right flap and fold the left flap over it. Dap some more glue on the bottom flap and fold that one over the other two. You’ll find that you used sturdy paper, getting them to stick together will take a little longer than if you used a lighter weight paper.

5   Cut a finger slot with a pair of scissors or a punch tool.

Embellish the gift card holders some more by adding baker’s twine or some other festive tidbit.

Gift Wrap: Sparkling Pine

Today, I have another gift wrap idea for you. I couldn’t resist. Going off from yesterday’s glittery palette, I created this using a kraft box, kraft paper, glitter, holiday stamps, a glue ink pad, and baker’s twine.

I chose a pine branch as my “pattern” for the wrap. Stamp away using the glue ink pad, apply glitter, and shake off. Cut the sheet to the size of the kraft box lid. Glue it to the lid, tie it all up with baker’s twine, make your tag with more glitter and the glue ink pad, and voila, you’ve got yourself a beauty.

Gift Wrap – Leafy Greens

Last week’s gift wrap idea was a bright colored one — and while I dreaming that one up, I created another one that was more earthy styled. I filed it away, but this week decided, why not show it to you all? Kraft paper is my favorite right now, and everything seems to get wrapped in it these days. The same greens as last week got paired with brown eyelash string this time. Yep, you just can’t seem to go wrong with kraft and real greenery.

Gift Wrap – Burst of Fuchsia

It’s the season of thanksgiving. And when you’re thankful to somebody, you tend to give them something. It isn’t always a physical gift wrapped up all nice, but sometimes it is. In tune with yesterday’s inspiration palette, adding a pop of color to your autumnal-inspired gift is always a plus.

Pair a bright paper flower with real greenery from your backyard + jute twine + kraft paper. For the tag, I pressed kraft paper against a gold ink pad to create something with texture, giving the wrapped gift a bit of glam.

Custom Card: Mr. Usenko

This card is one my favorites I’ve ever had to make because it’s of my good friend, Daniel Usenko. Custom ordered by someone to thank Daniel for his help, I found it to be so amusing to finally put him in paper form since he has been one of my biggest motivators in my stationery business — and I never once thought of thanking him by cutting him out of paper myself. Why does someone else always come up with the best ideas?! His paper self is all dressed up in one of his signature outfits — a gingham shirt, black shorts, and his New York Yankees cap.
