With winter in full gear, I felt it suitable to create at least one winter-inspired gift wrap idea for the blog before I start going crazy with Valentine’s Day. Find the how-to instructions below:

1   Grab a white box.

2   Dab the eraser end of a pencil into some silver paint or ink and create a polka dot pattern on the box’s lid.

3   Sprinkle some white glitter over the wet paint/ink and shake off the excess.

4   Tie some silver glitter string around the box for a finish.

Gift Wrap: Reusing Plain Kraft Boxes

December 18, 2013

Plain kraft gift boxes are something I reuse every year for Christmas. I have a different gift wrap theme each year, which makes these boxes perfect for dressing up in new styles. I guess this only works if your mother gives you your gift boxes back each like mine does or if it stays within the family. Find the how-to below:

Untitled-3Untitled-2

1   Grab a plain kraft box.

2   Cut out a strip of wrapping paper long enough to wrap around the box and a little taller than the actual box (enough to fold over the edge into the inside later).

3   Take that strip of wrapping paper and wrap it around the box, using some double sided tape to secure the two ends together where they meet. Try to avoid getting tape on the actual box itself so you don’t damage it when it’s time to remove the wrapping paper for next year’s theme.

4   Fold the extra bit of wrapping paper on top into the inside. This helps keeps the wrapping paper in place.

5   Place the lid on top, wrapping some velvet glitter ribbon around the box and secure a burlap fabric gift tag.

NEXT YEAR: rip off the wrapping paper and replace with a new print! Your kraft box should be damage free.

Untitled-4

1   Trace the top of the box’s lid onto the back of some sparkly glitter paper. Cut out the piece and secure it on top of the lid with double sided tape. This part you won’t take apart for future uses, so make sure you pick a color that you’re willing to live with.

2   Cut out a piece of burlap ribbon, enough to wrap around the edge of the lid with a little overlap. Use tacky glue to glue the overlapping parts together.

3   For some extra pizazz, tie some glitter eyelash string around the burlap ribbon.

NEXT YEAR: slip off the ribbon and replace with a fresh style!

Gift Wrap: Gold Kraft & Glitter

November 13, 2013

Filed Under : Gift Wrap + Packaging

Instead of doing my own gift wrap this week, I just had to share these kraft and glitter gift wrap ideas. Need a quick wrap? Grab a kraft bag (yes, that means lunch bags are finally cool), doodle or stamp something pretty on it, and seal it up with pretty tape or ribbon. Or create a fun tag to tie onto a kraft paper wrapped package. Have some extra time? Forage in your backyard for a dried leaf and spray paint it. Or grab some glitter tape and wrap it around a muslin bag (you might need some extra glue for it to stay on). There are lots of beautiful ways to wrap simply.

Gift Wrap: Burlap Touch

The week’s gift wrap idea is all about kraft polka dots and burlap. Fall is a wonderful time of year to incorporate natural elements into your projects and here’s how to recreate this look:

1  Start with a kraft box.

2  Cut out a piece of paper the same size as the top of the lid. I chose white glitter paper for some extra fun.

3  Place kraft circle stickers on top of the paper, folding over the sides if necessary. Glue down the finished product onto the lid.

4  Tie the box up with some sparkling glitter string.

5  Secure a burlap fabric tag and add a dried leaf for the finishing touch.
