My Temp Packaging

December 8, 2011

Remember my telling you of how I’ve figured out what my packaging was going to look like for my new brand? And as promised, I’m sharing my temporary packaging for you while I’m figuring out all the other small details with the new packaging. So even while I’m rebranding, I have decided get into kraft since it’s already part of my new packaging concept. Why wait until the new brand is released to send prettier packaging? Kraft is so much better than my usual USPS mailers…

Colors Chosen, Packaging Decided

Remember my mentioning of how I’ve started my rebranding process? Here’s a little update…

I’ve come a lot farther than I thought I would in this short period of time. I pretty much have my new logo, website, and blog already designed. I originally wanted someone else to do all those things, but in the end found that I was having way too much fun and decided to go at by myself. Of course, I’m enlisting the help of some of my favorite artistic folks for some good feedback and the big job of coding the web stuff.

But I won’t be sharing any of that with you all just yet. Today I’ll just share my new color palette for the new brand. Lately I’ve been obsessing over all things gold. So it’s no wonder that it’s now in my palette. The whole palette revolves around the gold actually.

And I’ll also share my packaging inspiration palette as well. The gold in my color palette will reflect not just as a flat color, but also in all things metallic and glittery when it comes to my packaging. I’m currently on the hunt for some specific things I really want to have, and it’s a lot harder than I thought it would be. Does anybody know where I can get gold speckled tissue paper for instance?

I have some “temp” packaging that I’ve put together for the time being, but you all won’t see my dream packaging until I officially launch sometime next year. But I will share my “temp” packaging” with you all next Thursday.

Hope you’re all enjoying the beginning of  your December!

Coming Soon: The Autumn Collection

October 6, 2011

Happy Thursday folks! I’m completely in love with the autumn season. Jackets, scarves, falling golden leaves, and this total freshness all around. And then I start listening to my Nat King Cole Pandora station like no other music exists. But my most favorite part of the autumn season is the closeness of friends and family. After all the summer activities come to a close and the weather takes a turn towards the chilly, we all tend to stay indoors sipping apple cider and playing board games. And when we’re up for it, dash out into the rain to play in the mud when we go visit the pumpkin patch and corn maze. God is so good to bless us with friends and family. I don’t know what I would do without them.

What do you love most about autumn?

Well, since this is the autumn season, I’m finally releasing a set of cards into my shop. I’m excited about this because I haven’t released any new cards into my shop for a while now since I’ve been wrapping up summer projects until now. Up above is a preview of one of the cards from the collection. This collection will be released on Monday, the 10th of October, into my Etsy Shop. Look for it then!

A Little Behind the Scenes

The Stationery Shoot was up in Seattle again, this time for two whole days. I packed up my bags + props, got a hotel room, grabbed my sister and headed off on a three hour road trip. This was my sister’s first time in Seattle, so she really loved seeing her first look at the city.

Sunday morning we woke up at 4am, preparing to head one hour north to our first shoot location: a little river. I had borrowed my dad’s GPS device, which we found to be a bit outdated map-wise. So we ended up going a rather longer way, got lost a bit, but finally managed to make it to the location only just a tad bit late. But we were all so glad that we took the wrong road. On our way there, we went through some thick fog and got to watch the sun rise through it, loving how all the color and shadows bounced off the fog. God sure does make beautiful things. We were all in awe.

The river proved to be magical. Don’t you think so? I had dubbed this shoot Water and loved the feeling of the place. And as usual, 6 o’clock morning shoots are a bit breezy and cold. Towels that we set aside for the model ended up keeping everyone warm but the model, who was standing knee-deep in the cold water. My favorite part? Seeing my raft idea come to life.

And yes, this might be a bit random, but I thought it was hilarious. This is our photographer {Daniel Usenko}, asleep on the sidewalk while waiting for our breakfast after the morning shoot. Still decked out in his swimming trunks at that too.

The evening shoot that same day was dubbed Secret Garden. The location? The Queen Anne neighborhood. I haven’t seen such beautiful homes in a long time.

For the next day, the weatherman had forecasted rain for the day. Great. Beautifully enough, the rain did not fall in the morning. Once again we woke early in the morning to get ready for the shoot. Our location, a field, was only fifteen minutes away this time, so we were pretty happy about that. This was probably my most favorite shoot. Julia Manchik and Julia Nesterenko did super fabulous styling this one. The shoot was dubbed Field Dreams and it was certainly dreamy. And a bit vintage.

The last shoot of the trip got the rain downpour. Such a bummer considering stationery does not like water. So some things got wet and couldn’t be used. Some styling ideas had to be crossed off the to-do list. So it was the shortest shoot of the bunch. Dubbed Forest Light, it was certainly not light but actually quite dreary. The crew livened it up though. Super fun folks, they were.

So that’s all for now. Since the rain started falling and we were all so tired, we decided to finish up the shoot sometime in September. Fingers crossed it will happen!
