Wedding Stationery: Oak Tree

Max and Galina are two of my dear friends, so when they asked me to do their stationery for their September wedding of last year (yeah, it’s taken me a while to blog about these), I was honored. They wanted mixed type with one illustrative element, a tree. Perfect. Printed on creamy smooth paper with gray inks and coordinated with a gray linen envelope, this set was one of my favorites of 2011.

Here’s one of their wedding photos from Daniel Usenko:

Wedding Stationery: Winter Blooms

Tanya has been one of my sweet friends for many years. It really says a lot about how we’re all growing up when you’re finding your gals pairing up with nice guys and getting married. This wedding was very special to me and I just had to do the invitations for them. So glad that I was able to. Tanya and Ed wanted a winter themed wedding that didn’t look too Christmas-y and I think they got just that. I put together a custom palette for them that you can find here. You might remember it, it was the Sweet Nature one. This stationery set was inspired by a bouquet I found via Pinterest, which got featured in the palette.

The invitations were printed on super smooth white paper and coordinated with speckled envelopes to give the stationery a more natural feel. The bride really wanted something glamorous with a not overly glamourous look. Success? I think so.

Dripping Paint Birthday Invitations

December 8, 2011

Yet another birthday has passed. Every year when it comes to my birthday invitations, I get all excited. It’s not every day that I get to design and assemble something for myself. Remember last year’s Kate Spade inspired set? Well this year I created a painterly theme for my invitations. I had props left over from my latest stationery shoot that I thought I’d recycle into the stationery as well as decor for the party.

I found some super thick paper that I had lying around and picked out four colors of paint (sunny yellow, ocean blue, pink, and metallic gold) from my craft box. I squeezed the paint onto the trimmed thick paper, letting the excess roll down the invitation. All the party info was printed on yellow paper and trimmed just so I could wrap it around the invitation. I secured the yellow strip with super sticky kraft tape on the back. I also added puff tape underneath the front portion of the strip to give it a bit of lift. For the envelope, I chose ones that were left over from my dad’s birthday party invitations and used the same kraft tape to seal the flap. Talk about only using what I already had. Makes me so glad that I’m a saver.

Inspirational Wedding: Be Enchanted

We all love to be enchanted. This photo shoot has produced something that does just that. Monet inspired, this shoot has got to be one of my most favorite I’ve ever been a part of. I don’t even want to ramble on about how beautiful the pastel colors look against the woodsy, almost magical setting — I think you can see that for yourself.

The table is completely natural, covered in moss and needles. The palette was all pastels, and I think it became more beautiful set among something untamed. I especially loved the glasses: really lightweight and pink ones from Anthropologie.

The bouquet looked really sweet with a long peach ribbon bow streaming down. It looked even sweeter next to the swoon-worthy wedding dress. And the dress looked even more sweeter on the beautiful model.

When I was contacted about this shoot, I was told that a set of Monet inspired stationery was needed. Do I join the team? Yes, I love Monet! The stationery was tea length, printed on super smooth ivory paper with a watercolor texture printed on the back. Pastels bows in pink, green, ivory, and gray were tied around the invitation. The coordinating envelopes were pastel green and shimmery. Textured too. I am so in love with the envelopes. I dug up the leftover candles from my wedding to set up around the stationery and borrowed the bouquet and some vintage stamps. I think it did the trick.

The Leach Botanical Garden {the venue} has so many pretty places to take pictures at. I can’t even imagine what it must look like during the summer in full bloom. This shoot was the first time I had even heard of the garden and I was certainly impressed.

And to end this post, a simple and sweet photo of the boutonnieres:

A {Victorian} Grand Affair

Remember the sneak peek I gave you all at the beginning of this month? Or even the backstage photo? Well, the images have finally been posted on Daniel Usenko‘s blog and now I’m excited to share them with you! But first, make sure you stop by Daniel Usenko’s blog to see his post of this shoot because these images would not be so beautiful if it wasn’t for his creative eye.

And of course Kae of Short and Sweet Design…who styled the shoot with a modern twist on the Victorian Era. Simply lovely, don’t you think? She assembled the table centerpiece and bride’s bouquet herself, so let’s tuck that into her list of talents. Read more about the details on her blog when she puts up the pictures soon.

The stationery was all about typography. Starting with the invitation and down to the simple table numbers, each piece was printed on creamy felt-textured paper with burnt gold, dark mauve, and burgundy inks. The invitation was coordinated with a brown envelope with shimmery gold lining; the reply card with an ivory one with the same gold lining. The dessert menu was “oomphed” up with a strand of gold ribbon, as were the place cards that were neatly tucked into the linen napkins and tied down with the same gold ribbon.

And of course, we needed some “sweetly ever after” next to the cake. Good thing I brought along lots of gold ribbon for the shoot because the cake looked even more scrumptious when it adopted one of the pretty strands and was then decked out with pretty flowers.

And wasn’t the model just gorgeous? And I just had to put that chandelier in. So beautiful!
