Gift Wrap: Flower Field

Not all gifts need to be wrapped in ribbon and bows and today, I’ve got an idea for you that requires no ribbon. So for those of you who can’t tie a pretty bow, this is for you! Inspired by yesterday’s palette, I punched out flowers from glitter paper, bent the petals up, and secured them onto the top of the wrapped gift with tacky glue. Then I filled in the middles with white puff glue. And that’s it! If you’ve got a big gift, this will be very time consuming, so I guess this would work best if you’ve got a little gift, like the one I wrapped up.

Gift Wrap: Crumpled Kraft

This gift wrap is inspired by yesterday’s palette. I took some kraft paper, crumpled it up a bit and used that as wrapping paper. I then took a metallic gold ink pad and lightly brushed across the top of the wrapped package. This colored the bigger of the crumples for some added texture. Next, jute string was wrapped around the box and little ribbon knots were tied onto it. For the tag, I just took a piece of scrap paper, punched the corners with a decorative punch, and voila — a perfectly wrapped gift!

Gift Wrap: 3D Love Hearts

February 13, 2013

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow and for those of you who have yet to wrap up the gift you’re giving to your love, here’s a fun one. I had a bunch of hearts left over from a previous project, so I decided to use them for this plus some fun dotted paper. I am kind of obsessed with dots at this point as you may have noticed since my last gift wrap idea had dots too. I think they add so much playfulness to everything.

So this gift was wrapped in dotted paper and then I secured some mounting tape onto the back of some paper hearts and applied them on top of the wrapped gift. Four of the hearts spelled out “love.” This can be achieved by using letter punches or an exacto knife.

DIY: A Fancy Valentine

When my husband and I were still engaged, I put together a little book of all the things I loved about him instead of giving him a card. I loved seeing his face as he flipped through the pages, either smiling and laughing out loud at the bizarre things I managed to put in there. And because it was such a special thing for us, I decided to share with you how to make one yourself.

1   Cut out little pieces of paper sized at 2½” x 2″, hole punch them, pull a pretty ribbon through and tie a bow.

2   On the front page, write “I love…” to begin the adventure.

3   Write out all the things that you love about your sweetheart.

4   Fill a kraft box will tissue paper confetti and place the book inside.

5   Stamp a huge heart on the lid of the box, add some glitter, and voila!

Gift Wrap: Mixing Patterns

I remember the days when I was terrified to mix patterns and textures. I’m still a bit uneasy about mixing patterns still when it comes to what I’m going to wear, but when it comes to packaging, I’m all in. Inspired by yesterday’s inspiration palette, here’s a gift wrap idea for you.

One thing about mixing patterns is that it’s the safest to mix them when they share the same color(s). Sometimes, throwing in a small amount of contrasting color adds some fun. For this one, I wrapped the gift up in black + white polka dot paper that I printed at home. I tied up the package with blue chevron twill ribbon, made a flower out of a napkin I picked up at Target, dabbed watermelon-colored puff glue to add some texture to the gift, and finished it off with a pink glitter tag and a gem stone brad.
