So, what did you all think of the styled shoot that I just shared? I posted some behind-the-scenes photos last year right after the shoot wrapped up, but since it’s been so long, I decided to do another round with some news ones added (the black/white ones are courtesy of Angela Shae).

With our models beautified, the tables set up, and our bags and boxes stashed away where they wouldn’t get caught on camera, the photographer battled with harsh lighting, rain, and cold to capture what we wanted captured. I think she was the most soaked out of all us by the time it was over.

Untitled-32

I am excited to finally share this styled shoot with you that I got to put together last fall. The photographer, Angela Shae, and I teamed up to make something pretty, but didn’t think we’d actually get such a big group involved and make all that that we did.

The weather took a turn for the worse the day the shoot was scheduled to happen. We were forced to switch locations and find some wild looking place that had shelter; the best we found was a park from my childhood. Plus, the fact that the rain refused to stop the entire time, we were constricted to a tiny space the entire time. Not exactly what we had planned, but we certainly tried to make the most of it.

The whole team was out there in freezing cold and rain to make everything come alive. The gloom almost added to the charm of the shoot since I wanted it to have an organic, earthy feel to it – absolutely perfect for spring time or fall. The shoot had a mix of various shaped terrariums filled with an array of succulents and moss, dripping candles twisted into jars full of dirt, sequins and lace, white burlap, bouquets of succulents and herbs, the cutest little cupcakes, and the list goes on. The goal was to balance natural, earthy details with man-made tidbits for something that looked rugged, yet put together.

See some behind-the-scenes photos in the next post. And this week’s inspiration palette was the actual palette I sent out to the crew members, so you don’t want to miss that!

For the stationery, I put together a watercolor background, added a faded chevron pattern atop and chose a fun handwritten font. Everything was printed on creamy linen paper and then tied up together with iridescent sequins. Then it was coordinated with recycled brown kraft envelopes and a brown kraft mailer.

For the dessert table, because of the space constraint, we added it to the end of our table setup. We flipped crates upside down to use as stands for the sweets and a wooden cabinet sheltered the teacups.

Custom Card: Eternal Sunshine

custom card by Anastasia Marie

This card was custom ordered for a birthday boy. His girlfriend based the card on one of their favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. There’s this well-known image of the two main characters from that movie lying on the ice together. But since this birthday was a spring birthday, we opted to have the couple lying down in the grass instead of on the ice.

And here’s a little insight on what the receiver of the card had to say. This makes my job so much more amazing:

“This was the best card I have ever gotten. My girlfriend Maryna and I both really love the movie ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ because in many ways it’s a story about us and our relationship. Even before we dated, this was my favorite movie; I watched it many, many times, and memorized many of the lines from the film. One of my favorite scenes is when Joel & Clementine go to this frozen lake at night and lay on the ice, looking up at the stars. Even though both of them have really difficult lives, at that one moment none of it mattered and they could just enjoy the now, forgetting about their problems. That’s what the card is about. It’s a reminder that no matter how difficult life can be, I can forget about everything and just enjoy my amazing moments with Maryna. It is definitely the most meaningful and thoughtful card I’ve ever received.”
