Gift Wrap: Simply Tissue

My sister got engaged this past weekend and we’re very excited for her and her fiancee. And that rock of hers? Swoon. I gave them a ring dish as an engagement present and wrapped it up in one sheet of tissue paper. I say this all the time and I don’t always abide by it, but gift wrapping doesn’t always have to be crazy in order to be beautiful. Sometimes, all you need is a pretty piece of tissue paper, some washi tape to seal it up, a yard of twine, and a fun tag. It’s affordable, it’s quick, and if you’re careful enough not to wrinkle the tissue too much, you can get a winner of a wrapped gift.

Gift Wrap: Tag It

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of my gift wrapping idea posts. Once again, it’s not one of my own ideas, but I just had to share a concept that’s pretty much my life right now. With all the frenzy going on as we are just 3.5 weeks away from our baby’s due date, daily things have been getting simplified left and right in order to make room for all the baby things that still need to get done. Wrapping up gifts is certainly on that list. So if you find yourself short on time, an easy way to wrap up a gift really nice is to just add a fun tag. Keep the wrapping paper simple — keep the bow simple — but go crazy with the tag by making it a bold color, using a fun material like fabric or wood, adding a handmade touch by hand-lettering something, or use your favorite stamp. The possibilities are endless and the result is always perfect.

This week’s Valentine’s gift wrap idea is about mixing metals. Inspired by this week’s inspiration palette, I’ve grouped gold and silver together to form a re-veamp of one of my past gift wrap ideas, this one with a Valentine’s twist.

1    Wrap your gift in metallic gold/silver speckled paper.

2   Tie some glitter string around the package.

3   Stick a foil heart sticker on a glitter tag and secure onto the wrapped gift with a glitter clothespin.

This week’s Valentine’s gift wrap idea is all about the handmade. From the sheet of wrapping paper to the burlap heart tag, it’s a perfect way to show your love.

1   Create your own wrapping paper by stamping love all over a sheet of white paper. Our Love Stamp is perfect for this! Once it’s dry, wrap your gift!

2   Wrap some red glitter string around the package. Tie the two loose ends together on the back.

3   Cut out a large heart out of burlap paper.

4   Pin the heart to the package using a glitter clothespin.

Inspired by yesterday’s classy black and white inspiration palette for Valentine’s Day (perfect for those who are tired of pink and red), this week’s Valentine’s gift wrap idea is black and white on kraft.

1   Place your gift in a plain kraft box.

2   Cut out two hearts, one from black paper and one from a textured white/ivory paper.

3   Dab dots of glue onto the black heart and add some glitter for a sparkle effect.

4   Place the second heart on top of the black heart, punch two holes, and string some black tinsel ribbon through.

5   Wind the tinsel ribbon around the box a few times and secure with a knot on the back.
